REPORT OF THE REGIONAL CCM1I'!TEE II Having considered the revisions requested by governments 1 to the Supplementary List and those brought forward during the meeting; 2 REQUESTS the Regional Director to consider the Supple- mentary List revised accordingly. Sixth meeting, 29 September 1969 WPR/RC20.R4 PROPOSED PROGRAMME AND BUDGET ESTIMATES FOR 1971 The Regional Conunittee, Having examined the proposed programme and budget estimates for 1971, including the Voluntary Fund for Health Promotion and the Supplementary List,3 and the report of the SUb-Committee;2 REQUESTS the Regional Director to transmit the proposals as amended during the twentieth session of the Committee to the Director-General for his consideration for inclusion in his proposed programme and budget for 1971. APPRECIATES the extent of the task of the Regional Director, the Regional Advisers, and the Country Representative! in assessing the needs and deoiding the best methods of oonduoting country programmes: 3. ~UESTS the Regional Director to include in the Agenda for future Committee meetings, reports by governments on the progress of ourrent programmes receiving WHO assistance. Sixth meeting, 29 September 1969 WPR/RC20.R6 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE REGIONAL DmECTOR The Regional Committee, Having oonsidered the Nineteenth Annual Report of the Regional Direotor: Noting the oonsiderable progress being made in the control of oommunicable diseases within the Region but at the same time, Reoognizing the new problems posed by the inoreasing incidence within the Region of such diseases as cancer and the cardiovasoular diseases, road aocidents and the increasing prevalence of air and water pollution; Noting with satisfaction the work being done by WHO to assist individual oountries to evolve health plans which are realistio in terms of the health needs and the available financial resources of the countries concerned, a.'1d Reoognizing with satisfaction the trend towards a more soientifio approach in national health planning through health practice research,
