The resolution that adopts the “European Food and Nutrition Action Plan 2015–2020” will support and constitute the framework for the current and forthcoming biennia effort, particularly on the promotion of healthier diets with less salt, sugar and fat together with increased amounts of fruit and vegetables and other nutrient-rich foods, as well as on childhood obesity prevention. It will serve the implementation of the global action plan for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases 2013–2020 and the implementation plan for the strategy on maternal, infant and young child nutrition contributing to the achievement of global targets, both in the context of the global monitoring framework for NCDs and the monitoring framework on infant and young child nutrition. There will be no negative impact on regional programme area outputs as development and implementation of this Action Plan has been prioritized as a crucial element for full implementation of the workplan. 3.
