CORRELATION OF THE WORK OF THE WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY, THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND THE REGIONAL COMMITTEE Consideration of the agendas of the World Health Assembly, the Executive Board and the Regional Committee
The Regional Committee may wish to comment on the draft provisional agenda of the ninety-seventh of the Executive Board in relation to the work of the World Health Assembly and the Regional Committee.

In this document, the draft provisional agenda of the ninety-seventh session of the Executive Board (January 1996) is used as the basis for a comparison of the work of the Regional Committee for the Western Pacific, the Executive Board and the World Health Assembly (see Annex 1). The draft provisional agenda of the ninety-seventh session of the Executive Board (January 1996) is attached as Annex 2, and the draft provisional agenda of the Forty-ninth World Health Assembly (May 1996) is attached as Annex 3. The main items to be discussed by the governing bodies are: the reports of the Regional Directors and the Director-General's World Health Report 1996; regional allocations; changes in the 1996-1997 programme budget and in future programme bUdgeting; and the WHO response to global change, including renewing the health-for-all strategy. It is hoped that the following items on the provisional agenda of the Regional Committee will also contribute to debate at the global level: increase in membership of the Executive Board; the annual report on AIDS, including sexually transmitted diseases; the Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS; the eradication of poliomyelitis in the Region; the International Decade of the World's Indigenous People; the Sub-Committee report on its country visits to review WHO collaboration in the field of healthy lifestyles, with a focus on tobacco or health activities; infant and young child nutrition; leprosy; and reproductive health.
