SUPPLEIENTARY ADMINISTRATION AGREEMENT (Roseires Irrigation Project) Between THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN And KREDITANSTALT FUR WIEDERAUFBAU And INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION And INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT DATED AS OF SEPTEMBER 11 196 SUPPLEMENTARY ADMINISTRATION AGREEMENT AGREEMENT, dated as of September 11, 1966, between THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN (hereinafter called Sudan), KREDITANSTALT FUR WIEDERAUFBAU (hereinafter called Kreditanstalt), INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (hereinafter called the Association) and INTERNATIONAL BANK FOR RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT (hereinafter called the Bank). WHEREAS (A) By an agreement (hereinafter called the Administration Agreement) dated as of June 1, 1961, the parties to this agreement agreed to regulate certain matters of common interest pertaining to their agreements to provide financing to Sudan for the purpose of assisting Sudan in the con- struction of the Roseires Dam upon the terms and conditions therein set forth; (B) The Roseires Dam is expected to be completed one year ahead of the original schedule with resultant savings in foreign exchange costs; (C) Preparation of irrigation work and farm development has had to be expedited to provide suitable land for irrigation when the water stored by the dam becomes available; and (D) The Parties hereto deem it to be in their mutual interest to finance from the existing loans and credit the foreign exchange cost of certain items not included in the original Project described in the Schedule to the Administration Agreement; NOW THEREFORE, the Parties hereto agree as follows: Section 1. Wherever used herein, the terms defined in Section 1.01 of the Administration Agreement have the same meanings therein set forth. Section 2. Part A of the Schedule to the Administration Agreement is deleted and the following new Part A is substituted therefor: * -2- Part A Dam and Related Pre-Investment Surveys A dam with a buttress type concrete center section and earth embankments will be constructed at a site in the Damazin rapids, above the town of Roseires, to create a reservoir with a useful capacity of about 3000 million cubic meters. The concrete section will be about 1110 meters long with a maximum height of about 60 meters. The earth- fill sections will have a total length of approximately 15 kilometers and a maximum height of about 30 meters. The dam will be designed and constructed so as to permit future heightening by 10 meters without interference with normal reservoir operations and the center section will be provided with intakes for the future addition of irrigation canals and.foundations for a future power- house. The dam will be equipped with all necessary electrical and mechani- cal equipment for regulating releases of water and two 1000 kw generating units will be installed to supply electric power for the operation of the dam and for offices and living quarters of operating personnel. In addition this part of the Project includes (i) soil surveys and related engineering for the purpose of locating additional land suitable for irrigation by water stored at the dam and (ii) agricultural research for the effective utilization of land irrigated by such water. It is expected that this part of the Project will be completed by July 1, 1966. * -3- Section 3. Part B of the Schedule to the Administration Agreement shall be amended by inserting the words "in addition to those provided for in Part A" after the words "This part of the Project includes the soil surveys". Section ). This Agreement shall become effective when evidence satisfactory to the Bank shall have been furnished to the Bank showing that this Agreement has been duly authorized or ratified by, and executed and delivered on behalf of, Sudan and constitutes a valid and binding obligation of Sudan in accordance with its terms. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Parties hereto, acting through their repre- sentatives thereunto duly authorized, have caused this Agreement to be signed in their respective names, and to be delivered in the District of Columbia, United States of America, as of the day and year first above written.
