SEA/RC52/R2 BIENNIAL REPORT OF THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR The Regional Committee, Having reviewed and discussed the biennial report of the Regional Director containing highlights of the work of WHO in the South-East Asia Region for the period 1 July 1997 to 30 June 1999 (SEA/RC52/2 and SEA/RC52/Inf. 1 and Inf.2), Notes with satisfaction the progress made during this period in the implementation of WHO’s collaborative programmes and activities in the Region; Congratulates the Regional Director and his staff for bringing out a clear and comprehensive report on WHO’s programmes and activities in the Region, and Requests the Regional Director: to develop appropria te indicators for measuring, preferably in quantifiable terms, the outcomes of the WHO collaborative programmes and activities; to identify, for taking corrective actions, the problems/constraints faced by WHO in supporting the Member States, and to provide information and disaggregated data on the country-wise activities implemented with WHO Regular budget and extra-budgetary funds, in order to facilitate better planning and optimum utilization of resources.
