POLIOMYELmS B o l iv ia . — According to the Ministry of Public Health, an epidemic of paralytic poliomyelitis, based on clinical diagnosis, began in November 1974. As of 10 February, a total o f 83 cases have been reported, all of them am ong unvaccinated children under two years of age. By departments, 49 cases occurred in Oruro, 16 in la Paz, 7 in Cochabamba, 6 in Santa Cruz and 5 in Potosi. At this time no information is available concerning the type of virus nor clinical characteristics of the outbreak. Immunization programmes with the trivalent polio vaccine have been intensified.

POLIOMYÉLITE B o l iv ie . — Selon une communication du Ministère de la Santé publique, une épidémie de poliomyélite paralytique (d’après le diagnostic clinique) a commencé en novembre 1974. Au 10 février 1975, 83 cas au total avaient été notifiés, tous des enfants non vac­ cinés âgés de moins de deux ans. La distribution par départements s’établit comme suit: Oruro, 49 cas, la Paz, 16, Cochabamba, 7, Santa Cruz, 6 et Potosi, 5. On manque encore de détails sur le type de virus et sur les caractéristiques cliniques de la maladie. Les programmes de vaccination antipoliomyélitique par le vaccin triple ont été intensifiés.
