GLOSSARY GLOSSARY CHEMICAL NAMES OF INSECTICIDES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS As previously noted, common names approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) or the British Standards Institution (BSI) are used throughout the text wherever possible.' In many cases, however, such names are not available, and others must be used. The following list gives the chemical names of all substances referred to in the text by proprietary names, abbreviations, acro- nyms, etc., or by names other than those approved by ISO or BSI, with the exception of the few names that are identified in the text. Errors and omissions excepted, proprietary names are distinguished by an initial capital letter. BSI names, which cover a larger number of insecticides, will be found in BS 1831, Recommended common names for pesticides (London, British Standards Institution, 1969) and in supplements thereto. The lists of both organizations include chemical names and structural formulae. 2659 - 445 - CHEMICAL NAMES OF INSECTICIDES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS furethrin Gardona Hedonal (drug) Hopcide Isolan Landrin Meobal metepa Mobam PFU-26 Prolan propyl isome proximpham Pyramat Pyrolan Ruelene sarin sesamex SKF-525A soman sulfoxide Supracide swep tabun Talcord Thanite thiotepa TOCP Vernolate WARF Antiresistant Zectran 2-(2-furfuryl)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-cyclopenten- I -yl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylpropenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate 2-chloro-l-(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl)vinyl dimethyl phosphate 2-pentyl carbamate o-chlorophenyl methylcarbamate 1-isopropyl-3-methylpyrazol-5-yl dimethylcarbamate 3,4,5-trimethylphenyl methylcarbamate, 75% 2,3,5-trimethylphenyl methylcarbamate, 18% 3,4-xylyl methylcarbamate tris(2-methyl-1-aziridinyl)phosphine oxide benzo[b]thien-4-yl methylcarbamate an insecticide whose active ingredient (10% content) is triamiphos 1, 1-bis(p-chlorophenyl)-2-nitropropane dipropyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-7-methylnaphtho[2,3-d]-1 ,3-dioxole-5,6-dicarboxylate propanone O-(phenylcarbamoyl)oxime 6-methyl-2-propyl-4-pyramidinyl dimethylcarbamate 3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazol-5-yl dimethylcarbamate 4-tert-butyl-2-chlorophenyl methyl methylphosphoramidate isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate 2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethyl-3,4-(methylenedioxy)phenyl acetal of acetaldehyde 2-(diethylamino)ethyl 2,2-diphenylpentanoate (valerate) 1,2,2-trimethylpropyl methylphosphonofluoridate 1 ,2-methylenedioxy-4-[2-(octylsulfinyl)propyl]benzene S-[(2-methoxy-5-oxo-z12-l ,3,4-thiadiazolin-4-yl)methyl] O,O-dimethyl phosphorodithioate methyl 3,4-dichlorocarbanilate ethyl dimethylphosphoramidocyanidate S-(2-cyanoethyl)-N-[(methylcarbamoyl)oxy]thioacetimidate isobornyl thiocyanatoacetate tris(1-aziridinyl)phosphine sulfide tri-o-tolyl phosphate S-propyl dipropylthiocarbamate N,N-dibutyl-p-chlorobenzenesulfonamide 4-dimethylamino-3,5-xylyl methylcarbamate 446
