Considering Resolution WHA 25.44 adopted by the Twenty-fifth World Health Assembly and included - for information - under Item 7 of the Agenda of the Sub-Committee A, Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region;
Realizing the importance of advanced scientific research in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in the Eastern Mediterranean Region,
l. APPRECIATES and fully supports the successful step taken by the World Health Assembly in adopting Resolution WHA 25.44;
2. EXPRESSES its hope that the WHO Director-General shall implement as soon as possible the above-mentioned resolution and shall assign to the Eastern Mediterranean Region a well-deserved share of the programne for the promotion of research in the prevention of cardio vascular diseases and their complications;
3. URGES Member Governments of the Region to respond to this resolution and participate in its implementation by encouraging their institutions, associations and inhabitants to provide the required resources, facilities and co-operation for this imple mentation;
4. RECJJESTS the Regional Director to follow up the implementation of the WHA resolution under reference and to keep Member Governments of the Region informed of the action taken in this respect.
