There was a decrease of 35% in overall reported confirmed cases compared to the previous month when it was 6,496 confirmed cases. The highest number of confirmed cases was reported from the Islamic Republic of Iran followed by Afghanistan and Morraco. During November 2023, a total of 134 COVID-19-related deaths were reported from 3 Member States in the Region with the Islamic Republic of Iran reporting the highest number of deaths followed by Afghanistan. There was a 24%% decrease in reported deaths compared to the previous month when it was 176. Out of the 22 Member States in the Region, 4 reported updates on COVID-19 confirmed cases and associated deaths in November 2023. Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 23,406,374 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 351,802 related deaths at a case-fatality ratio (CFR) of 1.5% were reported from the Region. 21 countries have reported one or more new variants of concern (VOC) in the Region: Alpha in 21 countries, Beta in 18 countries, Gamma in 6 countries, Delta in 20 countries and Omicron in 21 countries. Vaccination continues across the Region. The total number of doses administered as of 30 November 2023 in the Region is 902,709,401 and the average coverage of the fully vaccinated population in the Region is 51%. The United Arab Emirates (98%), Qatar (97%) and Kuwait (77%) have reported the highest number of completed primary series while Libya (18%), Syria (13%), and Yemen (3%) reported the lowest number of vaccination coverage in the Region. . . . . . .
