The project, which would be heaclert by an internationally recruited chief of operations, would. corae u:ider the lfinistry of Planning. n. It was agreed. that: 1) the cost of the exterLsion stud.ies in Benin, Ghana a:rcl Togo woul-d be includ.ed. in the regular OCP bud.get for the Progran:ne operations i 2) a table would be incorporated presenting annual expenditures as related to country contributions; -2- 3) page 5l would be reconciled. v'rith the figures provided by TIII0 Head.quarters; 4) the figures relating to the Inclependerrl Qenmrission in table VII, page 12, lvould be revlerved; 5) as the comparatively sma11 proportion of the bud.get provided. for training did not reflect the mxnber of persons actually trained, information would be included concernlng the cost per head; 6) the headings to tables VI and VII vrould be revised, 5. It was recalled that the d.onors had raised questions regarding the expenditure related to llaison serwi-ces in VIIIO Iieadquarters aird the Regional Office for Africa, and it was agreed to include a d.escription of the functions of these offices in the text. 6. Insecticides: In reply to a query from the Bank regardi-ng the ecological stzrtus of chlorphoxim, YIIIO replied that this i:rsecticide ltad been recomiendecl by the rTIIO Division of Vector Biology ar:d. Control as being the next best to Abate from amongst those available. rn L977 chlorphorim I'ras tested in a large-scaIe fiel<l trial on the Biver ]dzi in Ivory Coast. Ihis tlial was intensively monitored for its effect on the cnvi-ronment. A reducti-on i-n the most common species of insects was obserwed but as soon as the trial ended. repopulation was rapid.
