CONSIDERATION OF DRAFT RESOLUTIONS The Committee considered the following draft resolutions:

Twenty-third session of the Regional Committee (Document WPR/RC22/WP/22) Decision: The draft resolution was adopted without comment (see resolution WPR/RC22.R26).

. 2 ADOPTION OF THE DRAFT REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE: Agenda (Document WPR/RC22/19) Item 26 of the The CHAIRMAN invited Dato (Dr) ABDUL MAJID BIN ISMAIL (Malaysia), Rapporteur, to present the draft report of the Committee.
Mr WATANABE (Japan) proposed the adoption of the draft report. Dr KING (United States of America) requested that h~s delegation's abstention from voting on resolution WPR/RC22.R23 be included on page 16 of the draft report. It was so agreed.

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION (Document WPR/RC22/WP/24)

countries had met together ina ,spirit of friendship and co-,operation to discuss important health ,matters relating to the Region. He had been most impressed by the ,efjfi-cient manner in which the Chairman, with the support of the Regiona,lPirecto.r' and his staff, had carried out his highly responsible and difficult task. The REGIONAL DIRECTOR drew attention to the fact that in paragraph (4) of the draft resolution 110 had inadvertently been omitted. Dr THONG (United Kingdom) agreed that this was an omission and should be rectified immediately. Dr GAIMAITAN (Philippines) supported the draft resolution. Dato (Dr) ABDUL MAJID BIN ISMAIL (Malaysia) associated himself with the sentiments expressed by the previous speakers. He congratulated the Chairman for the manner in which he had so ably conducted the meeting. He expressed his appreciation to the Regional Director and his staff for the courtesies and assistance extended and thanked the Representatives of all countries for their co-,operation and friendly attitude which he hoped would persist through future Regional Committees. He also wished to thank the people of the Philippines for the hospitality extended to each of them. y

Dr SO SATTA (Khmer Republic), Vice-Chairman, associated himself fully with the remarks of the previous speakers. He thanked the Chairman and the Regional Director and his staff for having contributed to the success of the meeting. He was particularly grateful to the Committee for having appointed him as Vice-Chairman and would not forget the assistance extended to his country during a difficult period. Decision: The draft resolution, as amended, was adopted (see resolution WPR/RC22.R28).

ADJOURNMENT:
Item 27 of the Agenda
The CHAIRMAN said that through the Regional Committee each of them had acquired further insight into their own country's problems as well as into the problems faced by the other countries of the Western Pacific Region. Through the discussions, the resolutions and decisions made showing the trends which the Region would follow, greater cohesion had been brought about. The Committee had had an interesting and valuable exchange of views. He particularly wished to thank the Representatives for their indulgence and kindness to him, their newlyappointed Chairman, and the Regional Director and his staff, without

whose help he would have been unable to fulfil his task. He thanked the Representatives of the United Nations Development Programroe, ILO, UNICEF and the intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations for their presence at the meeting. The resolution of appreciation was more than a mere formality; it was the manner in which the Regional Committee thanked all those who had assisted in every capacity and expressed its satisfaction at the conclusion of a successful meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 2.25 p.m.
