NarES that in many countries in the Region the mortality rate of pre-school children is high and that it compares unfavourably "lith the infant and maternal mortality rates; 2. EMPHASIZES the need for extending and improving the health services provided for the pre-school child, mth particular attention being paid to improved nutrition, the establishment of pre-school welfare clinics, and the intensification of immUnization programmes; 3. RECOMMENDS that maternal and chHd health services should be broadened to include ade9.uate measures to improve the health of the pre-school child.
