Larviciding The Eastern Zone helicopter fleet increased fron 3 to 4 units as from I llay 1988. The annual reinvasion phenomenon in the Eastern Zone was observed this year during the 20th cycle when 26 and l2l flies rere respectively caught at Bagan on the hlo river and at Gbasse on the Sota. l.l Larviciding cycles: 4 2 2.1 Pros ecti on .l Suppl i_es - Aviation fuel Several refillings were done: Niamtougou (Togo) 40,000 litres, Bamako (ltali) 50'000 litres and 0dienne (cote d'Ivoire) 30,000 litres. 2. 0ther aerial operations 63.6 hours were flown: 4.4 hours on the mono river; eastern part of the Niger river; 4.9 hours on the Bafing; Sassandra basin and 34.1 hours in sierra Leone and Guinea. 2.2 ltli scel I ancous 1.8 hours on the 18.4 hours on the 5.2 hours were flown: 0.7 hour to test the accuracy and efficacy of the helicopter release systcm and 4.5 hours for the maintenance of the Argos beacons. 2.3 Transport and liai son The Cessna flew 9.0 hours for 0Cp. 3 Larvicide dispensed 36'751.9 litres of HPD; 337.4 litres of Abate; I,595.9 litres of chlorpho- xim; 532.2 litrcs of carbosulfan and 148 litres of pernrethrin were used (see Table l).
