FURTHER URGES Member States to maintain vigilant surveillance for cholera and to take prompt action if it is detected. Eighth meeting, 8 October 1979 WPR/RC30.R23 RADIATION MEDICINE IN PUBLIC HEALTH The Regional Committee, Having considered the paper presented by the Regional Director;l Recognizing the need to strengthen national capabilities for planning and developing radiological services; 1. URGES Member States to collaborate in improving practices ih the medical use of ionizing radiation and radionuclides as well as the protection of radiation workers and the population (including patients) against excessive exposure to ionizing radiation; 2. ENDORSES the proposed plan for better coverage and utilization of radiation medicine services; 3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to continue efforts in the Western Pacific Region towards cooperation in establishing and developing radiodiagnostic, radiotherapeutic and nuclear medicine services, as appropriate, for the overall development of comprehensive health care programmes.
