The Regional Committee is requested to consider and comment on the draft provisional agenda of the I03,d session of the Executive Board in January 1999 and the provisional agenda of the Fifty-second World Health Assembly in May 1999 in relation to the work of the Regional Committee. This document replaces WPRJRC49/20 which was
prepared before the agendas for the I03,d session of the Executive Board and the Fifty-second World Health Assembly became available.

A comparative table citing items discussed by the Regional Committee for the Western Pacific which are due to be discussed at the 103'd session of the Executive Board is attached as Annex I. The provisional agendas of both the 103'd session of the Executive Board and the Fifty-second World Health Assembly are attached as Annex 2 and Annex 3, respectively. Among the topics to be discussed by the governing bodies are: report on Cabinet projects on roll back malaria, tobacco free, evidence base and information technology; appointment of the
Regional Directors for the Americas, South-East Asia and the Western Pacific regions; programme budget matters, including the proposed programme budget for the financial period 2000-2001, supplementary budget for the financial period 1998-1999, regular budget allocations to regions and extrabudgetary resources; financial matters; WHO reform; and programme matters, technical and health issues, including the strategic framework for the period 2000-2003, the revised drug strategy and poliomyelitis eradication.
