Influenza Chile (25 June 1999).1 Influenza activity has declined. All the influenza viruses subtype A(H3N2) identified are A/Sydney/5/97-like. A very few cases of influenza B are still being detected. New Zealand (1 July 1999).2 Consultations for influenzalike illness have gradually increased since May, with a growing number of health districts reporting. Of the influenza viruses isolated, influenza A predominated over influenza B. Some influenza A viruses were identified as subtype A(H3N2). 1 2

Grippe Chili (25 juin 1999).1 L’activité grippale a diminué. Tous les virus identifiés comme étant du sous-type A(H3N2) étaient analogues à A/Sydney/5/97. Un très petit nombre de cas de grippe B sont encore dépistés. Nouvelle-Zélande (1 juillet 1999).2 Il y a eu une augmentation graduelle des consultations pour syndromes grippaux depuis mai, avec un nombre croissant de districts sanitaires faisant des rapports. Sur les virus grippaux isolés, le type A a prédominé sur le type B. Quelques virus grippaux A de sous-type A(H3N2) ont été identifiés. 1 2
