PROPOSED PROGRAMME BUDGET 2006–2007 (document AFR/RC54/3) The Regional Committee, Having examined the World Health Organization Proposed Programme Budget for the biennium 2006-2007 and the principles and strategic directions that have led to the development of this budget: 1. SUPPORTS the WHO proposed Programme Budget 2006-2007;

2. COMMENDS the efforts of the Director-General in setting a target for the allocation of more resources to regions and countries and to priority areas of work and, in particular, to the African Region; 3. COMMENDS the Regional Director for the active participation of the Region in the preparation of the Proposed Programme Budget for the biennium 2006-2007; 4. REQUESTS the Regional Director to ensure that operational planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation are done in close collaboration with the national authorities; 5. ENCOURAGES the Regional Director to continue mobilizing Voluntary Funds to ensure adequate funding for the implementation of priority areas of work in the African Region; 6. REQUESTS the Regional Director to bring this resolution and the views expressed by the Regional Committee to the attention of the Director-General so that he may consider them in the elaboration of the draft Programme Budget that will be submitted to the one-hundred-and-fifteenth session of the Executive Board pursuant to Article 55 of the Constitution.
