Influenza New Caledonia (24 June 1999). After a first peak in influenza activity from the third week of February until the end of March, there has been a second peak since the end of May. The viruses isolated were influenza A non-subtyped, A(H3N2) and B. Puerto Rico (25 May 1999). There has been an outbreak of influenza-like illness since the beginning of May. An influenza A virus was isolated from a child admitted to hospital.

Grippe Nouvelle-Calédonie (24 juin 1999). Après avoir culminé une première fois entre la troisième semaine de février et fin mars, l’activité grippale a atteint un second pic depuis fin mai. Les virus isolés étaient de grippe A non sous-typés, A(H3N2) et B. Porto Rico (25 mai 1999). Il y a eu une flambée de syndromes grippaux depuis début mai. Un virus grippal A a été isolé chez un enfant hospitalisé.
