CHOLERA C zechoslovakia . — Information has been received concerning a localized outbreak in Vojany, in the Trebisov District of Eastern Slovakia. There has been a total of four cases with one death in addition to which four healthy carriers have been identified. The organism is V. cltolerae, biotype e/tor, serotype Ogawa. The cases, although residents of three different villages, were found on epidemiological investigation to have been connected with an electric power plant in Vojany. All necessary control measures have been introduced and no frontier formalities are warranted. J ordan , L ebanon , R epublic of K orea . — These countries have been declared free of infection. The attention of health administrations is drawn to the fact that no restrictions should be imposed on the importation of any food products from these countries on account of cholera. T urkey . — 1 Further information has been received indicating that 1 160 suspected cases have been hospitalized of which 984 have been examined bacteriologically. A total of 474 were found to be positive for V. cholerae, biotype eltor, serotype Inaba. There were 46 deaths. The epidemic is reported to be under control and the number of new cases diminishing. 1 Sec No. 43, p. 481.

CHOLÉRA T c h é c o s l o v a q u ie . — Notification a été reçue d’une poussée localisée à Vojany, District de Trebisov, Slovaquie orientale. Il y a eu au total quatre cas, dont un mortel; en outre quatre sujets en bonne santé ont été trouvés porteurs du vibrion. 11 s’agit de V. cholerae, biotype eltor, sérotype Ogawa. L’enquête épidémiolo­ gique a révélé que les cas — résidents de trois villages différents — étaient vraisemblablement liés puisqu’il s’agit d ’employés d ’une centrale électrique installée à Vojany. Toutes les mesures de lutte nécessaires ont été prises et il n’y a pas lieu d ’instituer de formalités aux frontières.

J ordanie , L iban , R épublique de C orée . — Ces pays ont été déclarés indemnes d’infection. Il est rappelé aux administrations sanitaires que l’importation des produits alimentaires en prove­ nance de ces pays ne doit faire l’objet d ’aucune restriction en rai­ son du choléra. T urquie . — 1 Selon les derniers renseignements reçus, 1 160 cas suspects ont été hospitalisés, dont 984 ont fait l’objet d ’examens bactériologiques. V. cholerae biotype eltor, sérotype Inaba, a été identifié chez 474 malades. Il y a eu 46 décès. Les autorités turques font savoir que l’épidémie est maîtrisée et le nombre des cas nou­ veaux est en diminution. 1 Voir N° 43, p. 481.
