VARIOLE Europe

SMALLPOX Europe United Kingdom. — The health administration informed WHO on 21 December that a six-month old Pakistani boy had been isolated the same day in hospital with suspected smallpox modified by recent vaccination. The boy arrived in London airport on 18 December from Karachi via Beirut and Frankfurt. On 24 December WHO was informed by the health administration that laboratory inves­ tigations had failed to confirm the diagnosis. The illness was not smallpox.

Royaume-Uni. — L’administration sanitaire a informé l’OMS le 21 décembre qu’un enfant pakistanais de six mois avait été isolé le jour même dans un hôpital avec un diagnostic de variole suspecte modifiée par une vaccination récente. L ’enfant était arrivé de Karachi à l’aéroport de Londres le 18 décembre; l’avion avait fait escale à Beyrouth et Francfort. Le 24 décembre l’administiation sanitaire a informé l’OMS que le diagnostic n’avait pas été confirmé par les examens de laboratoire. Il ne s’agissait pas de variole. -
