TYPHUS

TYPHUS S uisse. — Une jeune femme ayant séjourné un mois en vacances à Kumba (Cameroun) a souffert, lors de son retour en Suisse If 18 mai 1973, de forte fièvre avec exanthème. Il s’agissait du typhus murin, dû à Rickettsia muoscu, transmis par des puces. Les mesures nécessaires ont été prises et aucun autre cas n ’a été signalé. La patiente est en voie de guérison.

Switzerland. — After her return to Switzerland on 18 May 1973, a young woman who had spent a month’s holiday in Kumba (Cameroon) developed a high fever accompanied by a rash. The condition was diagnosed as murine typhus due to Rickettsia mooseri, which is transmitted by fleas. All necessary control measures have been taken and no other cases have occurred. The patient is recovering.
