^ The global programme of smallpox eradication has reached the point that progress is now monitored in terms of the number of “infected villages" in each area. A village is considered infected until six weeks have elapsed sjnce onset of rash of the last case and until a special search is made to confirm that no further cases have occurred. VARIOLE: LE COMPTE À REBOURS

^ Le programme mondial d'éradication de la variole a maintenant atteint le stade où les progrès sont exprimés par le nombre de «villages infectés» dans chaque zone. On considère qu'un village est Infecté pendant les six semaines qui suivent l'apparition des éruptions et tant qu'une enquête n'a pas établi l'absence de tout nouveau cas. Le Tableau ci-dessus donne les informations les plus récentes avec, en regard, les chiffres enregistrés quatre semaines auparavant.
