Regional Committee for Europe 72nd session Tel Aviv, Israel, 12–14 September 2022 EUR/RC72/CONF./13 Provisional agenda item 18 1 September 2022 | 220614 ORIGINAL: ENGLISH Dates and places of regular sessions of the Regional Committee for Europe in 2023–2025 Draft resolution The Regional Committee, (PP1) Recalling resolution EUR/RC71/R8 adopted at its 71st session; (PP2) Referring to the reflections of the Twenty-ninth Standing Committee of the Regional Committee for Europe on the conduct of productive, effective and efficient governing body meetings supported by clear agendas, accessible documents and clear decision points, which are sufficiently consulted during the intersessional periods; (PP3) Considering that rescheduling the dates of future Regional Committee sessions to the month of October, and aligned with the dates of the Regional Committees in the other WHO regions, would be beneficial for their preparation; (PP4) Drawing on the experience of the 71st session of the Regional Committee for Europe, organized under a virtual format, with briefings and side events scheduled separately from the plenary session, which allowed representatives to focus more effectively on the business of the Regional Committee and gave national experts the opportunity to attend the briefings and side events in their areas of expertise; (OP1) DECIDES that the 73rd session shall be held at a location still to be decided, from 24 to 26 October 2023, with briefings and side events to be held the day before the opening of the session; EUR/RC72/CONF./13 page 2 (OP2) CONFIRMS that the 74th session shall be held from 29 to 31 October 2024, in Copenhagen, Denmark, with briefings and side events to be held the day before the opening of the session; (OP3) DECIDES that the 75th session shall be held at a location still to be decided, from 28 to 30 October 2025, with briefings and side events to be held the day before the opening of the session; (OP4) REQUESTS the Regional Director, in consultation with the President of the Regional Committee for Europe and with the support of the Standing Committee of the Regional Committee for Europe, to further explore among Member States any interest in hosting future sessions of the Regional Committee, and to submit any new proposals to that effect to the Regional Committee, for adoption intersessionally, through a written silence procedure; (OP5) DECIDES that if, based on an assessment by the Standing Committee of the Regional Committee for Europe, conditions do not allow a given Regional Committee session to be held in person, a hybrid or fully virtual session shall be organized instead on the dates decided. = = =
