27TH MEETING OF THE HEPA EUROPE STEERING COMMITTEE COPENHAGEN, 27 JUNE 2017 HEPA Europe European network for the promotion of Health-Enhancing Physical Activity 27 November 2017 Executive summary 1. Background and overview This meeting of the Steering Committee of HEPA Europe was convened to review progress with implementation of the new work programme and to update on relevant international developments. Applications for membership were also discussed. An update on the preparation of the 13th annual meeting and 8th conference in November 2017 in Zagreb were also given. The meeting was kindly hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was chaired by Willem van Mechelen, VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and vice-chair of HEPA Europe, and attended by 10 members of the Steering Committee and a WHO staff from the Regional Office for Europe. The meeting was kindly prepared and assisted by the Epidemiology, Biostatics and Prevention Institute (EBPI), University of Zurich, Switzerland. 2. Evaluation of applications for membership Four new applications received since the last meeting were assessed. Two were accepted and on two, further information will be sought from the applicant institutions. Decisions were also taken on four pending applications; referring several to a newly installed due diligence process in relation to the new WHO “Framework of engagement with non-State actors” (FENSA). 3. Update on recent, relevant activities and developments Updates were given on the ongoing activities at the international level, including:  activities of the WHO  activities of the EU  other international activities 4. Work programme 2017/2018 and funding Participants took note of the update on the state of affairs on the implementation of the work programme. In a dedicated session, they also discussed next steps regarding the funding for HEPA Europe. Report summary 27 th meeting of the HEPA Europe Steering Committee 2 5. Annual meetings of HEPA Europe An update on preparations of the 13th annual meeting and 8th conference to take place on 15-17 November 2017 in Zagreb, Croatia, was given. The meeting will be hosted by the University of Zagreb. Co-sponsorship of the conference by the WHO Regional Office for Europe has been requested. 6. Other business and next meetings of the Steering Committee The Steering Committee will hold a phone conference on 16 October 2017. A brief informal meeting of the Steering Committee will take place within the framework of the conference in November in Zagreb. In 2018, one physical meeting of the Steering Committee will take place on 19 June 2018, in Copenhagen, as well as a phone conference meeting on 28 February 2018 at 14:30 CET. Further phone conferences will be arranged as needed.
