FOOD POISONING C hile. — In 1974, six outbreaks of food poisoning involving 46 cases with five deaths were reported to the National Service of Health. Of the 46 cases, 39 (84.8%) were m four outbreaks asso­ ciated with food prepared at home, and seven cases (15.2%) cor­ respond to two outbreaks associated with food consumption in restaurants. tests. In the rem aining seven cases, the food poisoning was due to bacteria. The distribution by age groups was: under 15 years, 24; 15-44 years, 15; 45-64 years, four; 65 years and over, three cases. TTiere were 26 males (56.1 %) and 20 females (43.9 %). In 28 cases (61%), only gastroenteritis was involved, and in the remaining 18 cases (39%), there were in addition neurological symptoms.

La distribution par âge des sujets atteints s’établit comme suit: moins de 15 ans: 24; 15-44 ans: 15; 45-64 ans: quatre; 65 ans et plus: trois. Il y a eu 26 cas masculins (56,1 %) et 20 cas féminins (43,9%). Chez 28 malades (61 %) la seule manifestation clinique a été la gastro-entérite; chez les 18 autres (39%), on a observé aussi des symptômes neurologiques.
