INFLUENZA B ulgaria (situation on 3 April 1970). — 1 Sporadic cases asso ciated with virus A2/Hong Kong/68 are continuing to occur in Sofia, although, since the second week of March, there has been a steady decrease in the number of influenza cases reported weekly. F r a n c e . — Most strains isolated at the National Influenza Centre, Paris, during the influenza epidemic of last winter in France have been confirmed by the World Influenza Centre, London, 2 to be indistinguishable from the original A2/Hong Kong/68 variant. Two strains however (A2/Reims/l/69 and A2/Reims/2/69) were found to be similar to the A2/England/878/69 variant which shows a small antigenic “drift” in comparison with A2/Hong Kong/68. As mentioned previously,2 this “drift” was too slight to have epidemiological significance.

F r a n c e . * Voir N» 12, p. 125. 2 Voir N» 9, p. 100.
