Influenza B u lg aria (12 M arch 1993).1 Influenza activity decreased rapidly in M arch. Influenza A (H 3N 2) w as the m ost com­ mon influenza type this season bu t a few cases o f influenza B were also diagnosed. C ro a tia (17 M arch 1993).2 Influenza activity rem ained high but was declining during the first two weeks o f M arch. M ost laboratory confirmed cases this season have been influenza B. F ra n c e (17 M arch 1993).3 T he influenza B epidemic is declining all over the country while influenza A seems to be spreading. M ore than half o f the cases diagnosed during M arch in the northern half of the country and one-third o f those in the southern half were influenza A. R u ssian F e d e ra tio n (16 M arch 1993).4 T he epidemic of influenza A(H 3N 2) and influenza B reached a peak at die end o f February. In m id-M arch, 15 of the 60 cities partici­ pating in the surveillance reported epidemic levels o f influ­ enza, while the outbreaks were over in 22. T he epidemic had then lasted from 1 to 8 weeks in the different cities. C ’est la grippe A(H3N2) qui a été la plus courante au cours de la saison, mais on a diagnostiqué également quelques cas de grippe B. C ro a tie (17 m ars 1993).2 L ’activité grippale s’est m aintenue à u n niveau élevé pour reculer toutefois au cours des deux premières semaines de m ars. La plupart des cas confirmés en laboratoire au cours de la saison étaient des cas de grippe B. F ra n c e (17 m ars 1993).3 L ’épidémie de grippe B est sur le déclin dans tout le pays, alors que la grippe A semble s’étendre. Plus de la moitié des cas diagnostiqués courant m ars dans la partie nord du territoire et u n tiers de ceux qui l’ont été dans la partie sud étaient des cas de grippe A F édér atio n d e R ussie (16 m ars 1993).4 L ’épidém ie de grippe A(H3N2) et de grippe B est passée par un maximum fin février. A la mi-mars, dans 15 des 60 villes participant à la surveillance, l’activité grippale avait pris une allure épidém ique, mais les flambées s’étaient éteintes dans 22 autres. Au total, 3 à 7% de la population a été touchée au cours de cette saison dans les classes d’âge de m oins de 14 ans et la proportion de malades qui ont souffert de la grippe ou d ’u n syndrome grippal est située entre 5 e t 17%.
