United States Mission to the OSCE Statement on the Antisemitic Terrorist Attack in Australia As delivered by Chargé d’Affaires Katherine Brucker to the Permanent Council, Vienna December 18, 2025 Thank you for the condolences to the United States. I would now like to direct ours to the delegation of Australia. The United States strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack in Australia on Sunday targeting a Hanukkah celebration hosted by Chabad-Lubavitch of Bondi. As Prime Minister Albanese said, this was “an act of evil, antisemitism, terrorism.” Our thoughts are with the victims of this horrific attack and their families, the Jewish community, and the people of Australia, a valued OSCE Asian Partner. As Jews around the world light Hanukkah candles, they commemorate the triumph of light over darkness and the long history of Jewish resilience in the face of oppression. No community should have to fear publicly celebrating its faith and traditions due to the threat of extremist violence and terror. Миссия США при ОБСЕ Заявление по поводу антисемитского теракта в Австралии Выступление Временной поверенной в делах США в ОБСЕ Кэтрин Бракер на заседании Постоянного совета в Вене 18 декабря 2025 года Благодарю вас за соболезнования, выраженные Соединенным Штатам. А сейчас я хотела бы выразить наши соболезнования делегации Австралии. Соединенные Штаты решительно осуждают чудовищный теракт, совершенный в Австралии в воскресенье во время празднования Хануки, организованного общиной “Хабад-Любавич” в Бонди. Как заявил премьер-министр Альбанезе, это был “акт зла, антисемитизма, терроризма”. В наших мыслях мы с жертвами этого ужасного нападения и их семьями, еврейской общиной и народом Австралии – страны, которая является ценным азиатским партнером ОБСЕ по сотрудничеству. Зажигая ханукальные свечи сегодня вечером, евреи всего мира отмечают торжество света над тьмой и долгую историю стойкости евреев перед лицом угнетения. Ни одна община не должна бояться публичного празднования своей веры и традиций из-за угрозы экстремистского насилия и террора.
