Interest on Damages (Scotland) Act 1971

An Act to amend the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Act 1958 by extending the power of the courts to order payment of interest on damages.
In section 1 of the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Act 1958, for subsection (1) there shall be substituted the following subsections—
In section 2 of the said Act of 1958 there shall be inserted at the end the words “having regard to the provisions of the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Acts 1958 and 1971”.
In section 3 of the said Act of 1958, for subsection (2) there shall be substituted the following subsection—
This Act may be cited as the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Act 1971, and the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Act 1958 and this Act may be cited together as the Interest on Damages (Scotland) Acts 1958 and 1971.
This Act shall not apply to any action in which the proof or trial has taken place, or the evidence has otherwise been given, before the passing of this Act.
