Mode of trial and maximum penalty for certain animal welfare offences
subsection section-1-1
Section 32 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (post-conviction powers: imprisonment or fine) is amended as follows.

In subsection (1) (penalty for offence under any of sections 4, 5, 6(1) and (2), 7 and 8 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006), for the words from “on summary conviction” to the end substitute—

After subsection (4) insert—
subsection section-1-4
In subsection (5), omit “(1)(a),”.
Extent, commencement and short title
subsection section-2-1
This Act extends to England and Wales only.
subsection section-2-2
This Act comes into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
subsection section-2-3
The amendments made by this Act do not apply to offences committed before this Act comes into force.
subsection section-2-4
This Act may be cited as the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Act 2021.
