The amendment was proposed by the Governments of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden and communicated by the Secretary-General by depositary notification C.N.373.1994.TREATIES-8 of 23 January 1995 in accordance with article 26 (1) of the Convention. At their eighth meeting held on 22 May 1995, the States Parties to the above Convention decided to amend article 20 (1) of the Convention and adopted the amendment. By Resolution 50/202 apted at its fiftieth session held on 22 December 1995, the General Assembly noted with approval the amendment.
